A new name, a lighter pace! (FFB's for your BBF's)

Nov, 23, 2016
Today I renamed the jewelry design process to Funky Fun Bits as I also have come though changes since I last sit down and worked with stones and beads... I just want to have fun: play with colour, shapes, textures, mixing glass with crystal, stones and sometimes various metals, including silver.
I found myself just madly "beading" up bracelets while a few necklaces are to be finished.
All of them will contain happy, fun, fabulous energy for the wearer.
It suits well my inclination to mix, match and dazzle attitude.

Hope they will have the same effect on you!

Interesting, how "the organic" smoothes the daily life's edges...

ARCHETYPAL SYMBOLISM: ANCIENT POWER...

and, MEANING/SIGNIFICANCE OF THE VARIOUS CHARMS and ELEMENTS for the "intentfully" designed TERRA TALISMAN

AMULET: is a charm (as an ornament, gem or relic) often inscribed with a spell, magic incantation or symbol and, believed to protect the wearer against evil (as disease or witchcraft) or to aid (as in love or war).

ANCHOR – Prudence, restrain.

ANGELS - Symbol of good and evil spirits in religions around the world.

ASYMMETRIC DESIGNS: I sometimes elected this route to follow nature, which unfolds asymmetrically, yet, in wonderful balance.

BEAD – Careful Aim. Middle English bede, Rosary, Bead. Prayer . Old English bed, bedu , gebed, Prayer.

BEE - a sign of industry, creativity, wealth, diligence and eloquence. The Egyptians used it as a symbol of regal power.

BELL – Diligence. Technical and Administrative Skills. Sociability. Sagacity. Courage. Spirituality. also believed to "scare/chase" away evil...

BIRDS – Joy. Cheerfulness. Good Luck. Sexual Bliss. Unburdened Liberty. Spontaneity. Imagination. Lightness of Spirit. Spirituality. In many cultures symbol for the soul.

BUTTERFLIES - Ethereal Beauty. Most poetic symbol of Physical /Spiritual Transformation.

CHAKRA – Sanskrit: Wheel of Life. Energy Centre.

CHAIN – bond and communication. Matrimony and each link representing blood relations

CIRCLE - sacred hoop, ring : An ancient and universal symbol of unity, wholeness, infinity, the goddess, and female power. To earth-centered religions throughout history as well as to many contemporary pagans, it represents the feminine spirit or force, the cosmos or a spiritualized Mother Earth, and a sacred space. Gnostic traditions linked the unbroken circle to the "world serpent" forming a circle as it eats its own tail.

An ideogram of one. Totality. Eternal Continuity. Protective and Beneficial. Inclusive...

CLASP – union

CORD – cords or strings in magic is very ancient, beginning with the cord magic practiced by Egyptian magicians, to the knot charms used by medieval witches to loose storms.

Silver, links body and spirit and brings forth creativity, inspiration, vision, and protection;

garnet red represents the passion and strength in our relationships; olive green represents growth and nurturing… etc.

CROSS – Since the beginning of time, it has been the sign of elemental gods who were thought to rule the four directions of space…

Christians, continue to treasure the cross of Calvary. But be careful what kind of the many diverse crosses you wear - and what message you communicate to others.

Maltese: This eight-pointed cross (linking the points of four arrowheads at the center) dates back to the First Crusade in the 12th century. It symbolized the Knights of Malta, the Order of St, John of Jerusalem and apparently, also the Knights Templar.

In 1813, during the War of Liberation against Napoleon, it was revived by Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm III and became an award for acts of heroism, bravery or leadership skills. There are many, many more - some only shaped as "obelisks"...

CRYSTAL – Harmony, Spirituality.

CUBE – Cubes, squares, and dice are said to be emblems of constancy and loyalty.

DISK/WHEEL - the disk or solid wheel as it was before the invention of spokes, represented resurrection to a new life in Egypt by association with the circular return or rebirth of the sun.

In Hindu and Buddhist art, it symbolizes the cycles of manifestation: birth, death and rebirth.

DOLPHIN – “Pranha” the Breath of Life, community and finding your own rhythm. Traditionally they are the patrons of sailors and bring good luck to a voyage.

DRAGONFLY - its symbolism crosses and combines with that of the butterfly and change. The dragonfly symbolizes going past self-created illusions that limit our growing and changing. Dragonflies are a symbol of the sense of self that comes with maturity. They bring prosperity and harmony.

In Zuni myth, a messenger between the children and the gods.

FEATHER – Truth. Fine Judgment. Justice.

FLOWER – Spiritual and Sensual Love.

FROG – Germination, fecundity, water. Most popular in legend and folklore;Rain and Abundance, a living reminder of rain and fertility, frogs provide a vivid representation of transformation and rebirth.

GLASS - My interpretation is that of Reflection. Transparency. I use it also as a strong symbol of Transformation, Survival and, Reinvention.

GOLD – Illumination. Love. Self-Esteem. Courage. Passion. Light. Sun – solar magic. Fire. Financial matters. Prosperity. Wisdom. Sacred Hue. Yang.

HAND – Power. Creativity. Protective. Blocking. The hand I use is a fairly well known image, borrowed from Native American solar pictographs; which are found in many places in the southwestern US - meaning unknown - but, with its solar spiral likely represents a Shaman's powers. Currently it is often used to symbolize the energy-emitting hand of a Reiki or other spiritual healer.

This same hand with the circle in the palm, also appears in Jewish lore as the Hand of Miriam, serves as an ancient talisman to avert the evil eye, and appears in stylized form as a hand with three fingers raised, sometimes with two thumbs arranged symmetrically. In Muslim traditions, the "Hand of Fatima" is associated the daughter of the prophet Muhammad.

HEART – Centre. Love. Femininity.

HEXAGRAM - a six pointed star composed of two overlapped triangles, an ancient pagan symbol found in use by a number of faiths and cultures. Outside of the cross and the swastika, the hexagram is one of the oldest and most universal spiritual symbols. It is associated with the Biblical Solomon, known as the Star of David of the Jewish religion.

HOOK - an "instrument of control" as wisdom and clear understanding

INSECTS: bee, ladybug, beetle… - Harbingers of Spirit. Earth’s Fertility. Social Cooperation. Industriousness. Luck. Positivism.

JEWELRY – objects have been now found in Africa dating back 75,000 years. Closely related to the human need for ornamentation was the use of jewelry as amulets endowed with magical powers with an indelible belief that precious stones could affect the fortunes of the wearer...

Jewelry was made with certain convictions in mind, to meld into, conform to and strengthen beliefs. This was particularly true when religions began to form an important sociological bond…

KNOT - Binding Union.

MOON - Protection. State of divinity... The female principle, The goddess, Fertility, The archetypal mother, our unconscious experience, our inner child, our instincts, moods, feelings, intuition.

Governs personal interests, desires, needs

Rules liquids, sailing, nursing

"Emotional sensitive, imaginative, instinctive and changeable..."

CRESCENT MOON: A symbol of the aging goddess (crone) to contemporary witches.

In Islamic lands, crescent can be seen enclosing a lone pentagram.

In Victorian times given by the groom as a honeymoon gift to the bride...

OVAL /Egg shape - Abundance, Creativity, Fertility, Hoarding, Increase, Luck, Beginnings.

PIXIE – Mythical/Folklore figure. Fairy. In contemporary culture: Playfully mischievous.

SILVER – Moon. Female Energy. Goddess. Patience. Forbearance. Perseverance. Insight. Reflection.

SHOE - Confidence, stability, sure footing... (strictly, in my opinion)

SNAKE - has had a major role in the magic and mythology of almost every culture, as few animals are regarded with more awe and reverence; a symbol of life, death and rebirth. Since they often nest underground, snakes have long been symbolic of the dead returning to the upper world. As an “ouroburos” is symbolic of time and the continuity of life. (Queen Victoria wore one above her wedding ring). The Greeks customarily used the snake as an emblem of healing through wisdom. It also has symbolism with the Great Mother, intuitive wisdom, and feminine mysteries.

STONE – Common Biblical Metaphor for Reality and Integrity. Mythic Symbol of Hidden Blessings. Permanence.

SPIRAL - is and ancient symbol of evolution, one of the oldest pagan symbols in existence. It represents the cycle of the seasons and the cycles of Life, growth and change. Although each loop of the spiral brings us back to the same place, it takes us to a higher and more evolved level at each turn.

SUN - Worshiped through millenia by each successive generation. Purely as a symbol of divinity - protector, representing Eye of God, in the Christian, Islamic and Hindu traditions. Sunday ... :)

TALISMAN: an object cut or engraved with a sign or character under various superstitious observances or influences of the heavens and thought to act as a charm to avert evil and bring good fortune. Something that produces extraordinary or apparently magical or miraculous effects.

TURTLE – Unchanging Stability. Longevity.

CARING FOR TERRA TALISMANS

CARING FOR TERRA TALISMANS
These one of a kind items, as other valuable jewelry, are not be submerged in water... or any other harsh liquids. While some of the stones have a "rougher" look it does not mean they interact well with soaps, lotions and colognes (alcohol), or medical ointments. I find it a good practice to dab off excess moisture from any of the above including make-up on the chest and neck area, particularly where earrings and necklaces touch. It is a good practice to gently massage clean our precious items with a damp facecloth and give them "shine' with a commercial cloth afterwards. Store them, individually/in sets in a jewelry box. All metals tend to oxidize when exposed to the environment... Above all, remember although it is "costume jewelry" it IS a delicate item to care for and treated gently.

Color Energy, Therapy,Associations, Gemstones, Minerals and Other...

Color is a form of light and, as such, it stimulates our endocrine system which is connected to our body's energy centres, also known as chakras.

It is located approximately 6" below the feet, surrounding the outer layer of the aura like an envelope. It is the energy of the Tao, from which everything springs, like a fountain of water. The feminine aspect of the black chakra is the movement in, and the masculine aspect is the movement out. This ray is extremely powerful when used for psychic surgery; it allows you to get to the core of a problem quickly and easily.

Black energy also embodies the universal androgynous element or "neutral space." Buddha is an excellent historical example of the black ray energy. We could liken it to a mirror where we can clearly see ourselves with all of our blemishes and shortcomings.

At this chakra, there is a sense of acuity and mental clarity.

This ray's signature is wholeness, completion, and perfection.

And, the White chakra is located in the palm of the dominant hand; it is the 10th chakra, one that offers a layer of invisible protection. We may liken this protective armor to a selective Teflon&REG shield, one that will deflect evil or negative energy. White energy is a "power center" for healing. This ray allows you to transform and transmute; it can be effectively utilized after the black ray has already broken through an energy block. In addition, the white ray allows you to move into other dimensions quickly and easily.

White, containing all the colors, includes all the healing colors and can be used for any type of healing. If you are feeling threatened or someone is bombarding you with darkness and negativity, using and enveloping white light through and around you will protect you. It is also associated with purification/purity, peace, and unconditional love. It symbolizes the moon, freshness and cold.

White represents a very high degree of spirituality. Predominant white auras are rare.

Gemstones: Calcite, Diamond, Quartz Crystal, Howlite, Moonstone, Opal, Selenite and a variety of Agates, Jaspers and Quartz'.

White gemstones are ruled by the Moon and are associated with sleep and psychic energy. They are often used for good fortune, protection after dark. The crystal amplifies the powers of other stones. Caution: An aversion to white may indicate an inability to accept spirituality as a part of life.

Gray (mix of black and white)
Neutrality, Self-Control

Gray is associated with friendship in Native American culture. It is the symbol for security, maturity and dependability. It connotes responsibility and conservative practicality.

Gray is the true neutral color. Its energy imparts void, emptiness, lack of movement, emotion, warmth and identifying characteristics; It has a detached and isolated feeling. Because of this, it can give out a restful feeling. Gray is also the color of sorrow. People who favor gray can be the lone wolf type or, narrow-minded.

Gray with more silver in it can be a very active color. Gray can have a cooling effect when placed next to other more vibrant colors. However, it does have a stabilizing effect, making vibrant colors appear brighter while muting their vibration.

Gemstones: Galena, Gray Moonstone, Hematite, Howlite, Cat's Eye Chrysoberyl, Chalcedony, Dolomite, Picasso Marble, Various Agates and Jaspers.

Gray gemstones are healing stones and can assist in moving relationships toward more stability.

Gold Chakra (another view/understanding)

Above the crown is the 9th chakra.

It is the masculine balancing energy for the feminine silver ray. We need the gold chakra to sustain power whenever we move into other dimensions. It amplifies the alchemical nature of the silver ray. The gold ray's power is self-intuitive.

Gold has a quality to create a structure for healing within a light soul. With using this color and, surrounding the area with green healing energy, it will aid physical healing. Gold as a healing color is used for restructuring. Considered a "sacred hue" and very spiritual. As with white, gold represents unconditional love. Gold auras are rare.

Gold, or in heraldic terms "Or," was considered the noblest of colors. One of only two metals used in heraldry, it exceeds all others in value, purity and finesse. It represents the light of the sun, and was once worn only by princes. Gold is said to gladden the heart and destroy all works of magick. It is also associated with excellence and achievement, and the bearer surpasses all others in valour. It is represented in engravings by an indefinite number of small points.

Gold can balance energy fields, and is beneficial for opening and balancing the third eye and crown chakras. It can also balance the heart chakra. It can remove negative energy from the chakras and bring in the positive from the stones it is with. It has been used to bring wealth, happiness and good feelings. Gold is a mineral of spirituality, understanding, and attunement to nature. It attracts positive energy and is a great healing minerals...

* GLASS, WOOD, SHELLS and PEARLS

* Glass

One of the oldest materials known to be used by man.

The first natural glass used was obsidian, a volcanic glass, which was used to make arrowheads, knives, jewelry, etc.

Man made glass is reported to have been around as early as 4,500 BC in Mesopotamia and, as early as 3,000 BC in ancient Egypt.

Glass has not generally been attributed metaphysical properties; however, in reality, like everything else in the Universe, it has its own millennia gathered energy and thus, it has its own set of properties. Just imagine the conversion process! Glass is a "transformative fusion process" shared with fire, water and air... We are able to look through it, magnify with it, expand with and reflect on it... Metaphysically, glass carries - in my opinion - not only the "memory" gathered from origin but added to it, the complete transformative fusion process into another form, with the accompanying energies of the elements involved. Thus, becoming a powerful symbol of Transformation, Transparency, Flexibility, Molding, Clarity, Sensitivity...

In addition, colours add to glass their own specific vibrations.

* Wood

An element, in the Chinese Tradition

Healing and magical properties of wood

The ancient Celtic people had a sound practical knowledge of the properties, powers and energies of trees as well as a great deal of respect for them; even having a corresponding calendar.

World mythology:

Since the dawn of time, trees have played an important role in many of the world's mythologies and religions , and have been given deep and sacred meanings throughout the ages. The tree of life being a common thread.

Native American teachings speak of trees as "The Standing People". These Native teachings speak of the special lessons and gifts each Standing Person has to give humankind.

The Greek god Adonis is said to have been born of a tree...

Roman god Attis lent his spirit to the pine tree, which became the Maypole and initiated the Midsummer Day Festival of Joy. In celebration, dancers participated in the weaving of the world and the tree became the axis of the earth.... idea which dates back to the Neolithic and Bronze age periods where the symbolism was interpreted as a nexus - the world axis - where a pair of opposites come together as a "universal whole" - male and female, dark and light, knowledge and mystery...

As early as 600 BC Celts planted trees in the names of their children to insure a connection between the divine and the earthbound aspects of the soul...

* Petrified Wood

Ancient wood that has been replaced (through heat and pressure) into a mineral, usually becoming either Agate/"Agatized wood" - Chalcedony or, Quartz/"Silicified wood".

Petrified Wood helps one remove trifling annoyances, strengthens all areas of one's life; provides access to and information regarding past lives; a "stone of transformation" that assists one to advance to one's highest chosen level; absorbs negative energy; stabilizes one after a strong influx of energy.

Can be used to calm down survival based fears, helps to make one feel safe and secure, helps one feel ageless...

* Shells

Intuition, Sensitivity, Imagination

Shells stimulates intuition, sensitivity, imagination and adaptability. They help enhance mental clarity and provide insight. Shells promote cooperation between ourselves and others. Shells provide cohesive energy for groups.

Shells may be used to treat hearing disorders and calcium deficiencies. The calcium in shells assists the healing of broken bones and general dysfunctions of the spinal canal and the nervous system, also enhancing the assimilation of vitamins A and D.

Shells make an incredible journey in their lifetime. From the life that creates them, travelling through the powerful ocean for many years, eventually, remaining on rocky shores and sandy beaches as gifts for us to enjoy. They have an incredibly strong composition which withstands the constant bashing and battery of the oceans movements.

Because our bodies are 90% water, we respond very naturally to the healing/soothing journey that shells can take us on.

Shell healing is a very gentle and beautiful practice. These gifts from the sea help us overcome our emotional and physical problems in a natural and enjoyable way. They impart to us the same abilities they have themselves, and remind us that no matter how hard things seem to be, we are strong, resilient creatures.

They represent divine female energy, being the protectors and, a womb for life to live and grow inside them.

They symbolise power, protection, creation and survival- as they do, in one of the most hostile, dangerous and intense environments known to man.

It is not surprising to find so many cultures looking on these beautiful objects for inspiration, healing and protective energy!

* Pearls

Purity, Honesty, Innocence, Integrity, Concentration, Focus, Meditation, Tranquility, Wisdom.

Early Chinese myths told of pearls falling from the sky when dragons fought.

Ancient legend says that pearls were thought to be the tears of the gods and the Greeks believed that wearing pearls would promote marital bliss and prevent newlywed women from crying.

Pearls attune the wearer to the ebb and flow of life. They are calming and centering. They grant a sense of purity and promote faith, charity, and integrity, truth and loyalty. They especially enhance personal integrity and also, it is believed to inhibit boisterous behavior.

The pearl’s magical properties are said to allow a person to open up and find the meaning and the purpose of one’s “true self.” They are believed to enlighten the mind and inspire the mood, while helping the wearer to learn to love herself more and, in turn, help her love others more, as well. The pearl can bring inner wisdom and help to strengthen and nurture the growth of love.

Cultured or freshwater are associated with: the power of love, money, protection, and luck. Wisdom through experience, swifter karmic laws, finalizing engagements and love relationships. They are thought to keep children safe. Helping connect with the Goddess, the ultimate feminine energy.

Connect to: Due to their natural properties, as well as its elegance and beauty, the pearl has been associated through the ages with the “matrix of life” itself. Pearls are believed to help balance the human body’s natural rhythms and hormone levels in tune with the lunar cycles. They are also thought to have very strong magnetic powers and are being used in gem therapy to strengthen nerves, the adrenal glands and the spleen as well as being used to treat disorders of the digestive tract and muscular systems, aid fertility and ease childbirth...

Information gathered from various sources... While most of the preceding information has no scientific proof - to date - it is the strength of its practice and results that has carried it through the centuries, for us to to learn and pass on.

~ I am most certain that our intent, affirmation, behavior/mental set ("energy) has an influence in the outcome of all we direct our attention to.

It also has symbolism with the
Great Mother, intuitive wisdom, and feminine mysteries.

TURTLE
– Unchanging Stability. Longevity.
